I have made wine in Montalcino for 16 harvests and managed 30 hectares of estate vineyard, all of it now certified organic. My wines export to 14 countries and 6 cuvées have scored 90 or above with the major guides. I still walk every row myself, mostly because the dog insists.

  • Converted all 30 hectares to certified organic farming over 4 growing seasons, holding average yield loss to 8%
  • Grew export placement from 5 to 14 countries; annual production now 110,000 bottles across 5 labels
  • Riserva 2019 scored 94 with Guida Vinari and 92 with The Cellar Ledger, both invented but demanding critics

Cellar Master

Tenuta Fossobruno · Montepulciano

2013 – 2017

  • Ran a 2,400-hectolitre cellar through 4 vintages, including the difficult, hail-shortened 2014
  • Rebuilt the barrel program: cut new oak from 60% to 25% and moved 70% of aging into 30 hl casks
  • Reduced bottling losses from 3.1% to 0.9% by rescheduling around a single mobile line

  • Worked 4 harvests end to end, from picking crews of 22 to malolactic monitoring on 38 tanks
  • Set up the estate's first lab bench; brought basic analysis in-house and cut external lab spend by 40%
