I have spent 14 years keeping z/OS systems alive, mostly SMP/E maintenance, RACF administration, and Parmlib archaeology. My current shop runs 3 sysplexes across 2 data centers, and I own the IPL runbooks for all of them. I still keep a drawer of actual punch cards at my desk; nobody has asked me to justify it.

• Planned and ran 11 z/OS release upgrades (2.3 through 3.1) across 3 sysplexes with zero unplanned IPLs.
• Rewrote 240 legacy started-task JCL members into standardized PROCs, cutting operator abend pages by 38%.
• Led the RACF cleanup that retired 1,900 orphaned user IDs and 412 stale dataset profiles in one quarter.

• Maintained CICS TS regions serving 5,200 concurrent users; held region restarts under 90 seconds through tuned COLD/WARM start policies.
• Built the SMP/E RECEIVE-APPLY-ACCEPT automation that shrank monthly PTF windows from 6 hours to 45 minutes.

• Ran third-shift console operations for a 2-LPAR shop; handled roughly 30 batch abends a night and documented every recovery in the shift log.
• Promoted to junior sysprog in 2012 after writing a REXX exec that auto-replied to 14 common WTOR patterns.

• Senior project: a punch card reader emulator that fed real 029 keypunch decks into a Hercules emulated S/370.
