Abstract
I have logged and interpreted the shallow subsurface of the Dutch delta for 14 years, covering roughly 380 boreholes and 210 CPT soundings across rail, dike, and foundation projects. My working depth is usually the upper 40 m: soft Holocene clays, peat, and the Pleistocene sands everyone wants to found on. I still keep every field notebook, indexed, which colleagues call excessive until they need one.

Amidala Member · Senior Engineering Geologist
Terrafund Geotechniek, Utrecht · 2019 – present · dip 18° toward management
Lead geologist on 3 dike reinforcement schemes totalling 21 km of levee; delivered ground models that cut planned borehole counts by 15% against the tender baseline.
Built the firm's 3D subsurface model workflow (GeODin to Leapfrog), now standard on all 12 active infrastructure projects.
Supervise 4 junior geologists and review roughly 90 factual and interpretive reports per year.
Maasdelta Formation · Engineering Geologist
Delta Ondergrond Advies, Rotterdam · 2014 – 2019 · conformable contact
Logged 240 boreholes and interpreted 160 CPTs for port quay walls and a 2.4 km rail underpass corridor.
Wrote settlement risk assessments for 8 tunnel and trench projects; predicted settlements landed within 20% of monitored values on 7 of them.
Ran the site investigation scope for a 380-pile container terminal, keeping the lab programme 9% under budget.
Noorderveld Formation · Field Geologist
Noordboor Survey BV, Groningen · 2011 – 2014 · unconformity at base
Field supervision of 3 drilling crews across 60+ rural sites; logged core to NEN-EN-ISO 14688 with a rejection rate under 2% on QA review.
Mapped shallow gas-bearing sand pockets over a 45 km2 survey block for a regional pipeline route.

Lekdijk reinforcement, section 4
Ground model for 8.5 km of dike; peat compressibility zoning reduced design conservatism on 3 subsections.
Plate III · 2021
Utrecht station forecourt basement
Investigated a 14 m deep excavation; flagged a channel sand that changed the dewatering design before tender.
Plate IV · 2017
Botlek quay wall renewal
120 CPTs and 30 boreholes interpreted for a 600 m quay; anchor stratum mapped to ±0.4 m.
Plate V · 2013
